The port itself is straightforward and uncrowded, with ships docking just a short drive from downtown Hilo. From here, you’re within reach of highlights like Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls State Park, where you’ll find dramatic scenery that feels a world away from typical beach destinations. One of the biggest draws, though, is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can see active volcanic landscapes, lava fields, and craters up close.

Yes, there is a visitor information desk set up inside the terminal building. Although upon our most recent visit it was only open for the morning, not all day.
MAPS AVAILABLE?

Yes, on our last visit they had photocopy maps of the downtown area, and well as public bus schedules.
TAXIs / PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

There are a small number of taxis available at the port. Uber is also possible. There is also free shuttles downtown to the farmers market, as well as a public bus service and a local hop on / off style bus available.
ATMs / MONEY EXCHANGE?
